Hello -

Has anyone ever had a situation where an Urgent Care would be using Ammonia Salts? If so is that included in the E/M or can that be billed separate.
I am unable to find any information on this topic.

Thank you,

Urgent Care code for Smelling Salts

Hi There

This is a hard one...it could be included in the office visit fee. Or try to bill with second dx of R55.9 Faint or Dizziness R42 in which doc document patient fainting Etc and using smelling salts to keep person awake. You could try the CPT 94642 inhalant and send med record with claim. Add modifier 25 if pt fainted due to injection of ear lavage or whatever. Also add the chemical code ammonia carbonate=ammonia salts in the ICD10 code too if it fits visit details.

I hope this info helps you
