A coworker and I are running into a question on the use of code Y30.-

So, the definition on that code is "Falling, jumping or pushed from a high place, undetermined intent"

What is considered a high place?

We ran into this question because we had a patient who fell from a rock climbing wall and were looking for a more specified fall code than W19.- but when we saw this code we couldn't figure out in any case how we are to determine what a "high place" is. Is that 10ft? 20 ft? 50ft?

Anyone with ANY information or clarification would really be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance!

Id go with W17.90 for other fall from one level to another. I'd skip the Y code as that is more for things that happen under suspicious circumstances. It a fall from jumping or being pushed off an tall object

I totally agree with the fact that I wouldn't use this code, and I did not use this code for that patient, but just seeing it made me question if anyone had any information to clarify what is considered a "high place". To me it is very vague and I would love to know if there is any information that was put out to tell us what is considered a "high place"
