Will Medicaid pay if Medicare denies in NC?

I am having trouble finding the answer to this question. We have a patient who only has Medicare part A primary and Medicaid secondary. If part A doesn't apply to us, can we file Medicaid and expect payment? If so, would you file the claim as primary or secondary with the information of Medicare? Thanks for all your help!

I would just check Medicaid to make sure they know the patient doesn't have Medicare Part B and then submit as Primary.

Pt has part A..no part B coverage...and medicaid is secondary? I never heard that before..but if thats the case then I would file all part b services to medicaid as primary. I agree with Codingking..check the patient eligibility because it is possible that they have part b coverage.

I see it fairly often. There is no point in paying for Part B premiums when Medicaid is free and has no patient responsibility.
