Can someone please advise if there is a separate code for DME Wound Vac Dressing Change or is it the 97605/97606? I thought this was only for the application of the wound vac or is the wound vac removed/applied for each dressing change? Thank you in advance.
 
If the provider is just replacing the outside dressing, then no the 97605/97606 would not be billed. He/she would need to be replacing the entire wound vac for this code to apply. Dressing changes alone are not separately billable. Hope that helps!
 
So if I am understanding this correctly, you can only bill for 97605/97606 essentially once (when it is originally applied) since this is a durable type of wound vac system and the provider would not be replacing it. Only the dressing and canisters would be replaced. Could you clarify what you mean by entire wound vac (I understand that there is a pump, canister and dressing for it be be considered NPWT)?
