Has anyone received payment on the codes from the PPO insurance carriers.
Has anyone appealed a denial for the codes

I have worked with physicians who used 0171T and 0172T, although for a different interspinous process device. They have gotten paid by some carriers and they have had denials by others. These codes were used during a clinical trial also. Some denials were paid upon appeal, and some the denial was upheld.

We have only had luck getting paid for these procedures by Medicare and Medicare replacement policies. One local commercial insurance carrier will pay for the procedure but only one. Hopefully policies will change soon. Good luck on your appeals!
