I started using this new code Z13.1 screening for diabetes several months ago on our Medicare patients that aren't diabetic. This was supposed to be effective January 1, 2024 but Medicare is still adjusting as non-covered. When looking at the MLN article MM13487 it says effective date Jan 1, 2024 but implementation date 10/7/24. So is October the date we can bill? This is very misleading. Anyone have any experience with this issue?
