What is the criterion for coding for Chronic Conditions. When is something considered Chronic? Is there a time frame involved?
Thanks

I believe unless the documentation says chronic it's acute. Looking at your example in your other post it's was fairly obvious that it was acute since popping was the patients "injury" and they said now has pain that means it's recent which will means acute

I was reading further and i believe you should look in the index to see if there is a NOS option if it doesn't say acute vs chronic in the documentation. Now of there is a finding you would code that over reason for encounter
