What ICD-10 code can I use for a child with osteoporosis? M81.0 Age-related osteoporosis without current pathological fracture, is for children over 15 years of age.

Much appreciated! I've tried looking extensively and could not find anything online leading to a code.

Age related sounds to me like you have it because you are getting old or due to menopause

I would guess M81.8 which includes "Idiopathic osteoporosis" A type of osteoporosis that occurs with no known cause. It is very uncommon. It is seen in children and adults under 50 years old who are healthy, have regular amounts of calcium, vitamin D, and hormones, and have no reason to lose bone density.

I use age related osteoporosis because most of our patients have fragility fractures due to osteoporosis. Most are over 50 years of age. Could you use
M81.8 other osteoporosis without current pathological fracture?
