Hi everyone, I’m in need of some assistance and clarification. There has been different information in my facility on whether we are allowed to pick up radiology diagnoses that’s is reported from the radiology report. For ex from a X-ray, MRI, U/S and or CT in the ED facility setting. Some folks are saying yes to pick up the final impression diagnoses from the radiology report, because the radiologist is also considered a MD. While other folks are saying not to pick up the diagnoses from radiology report unless it is interpreted by the provider ,and 3rd party people are saying to pick up diagnoses from the radiology report, incidental findings and any interpretation from the provider. Which would be the correct way to report the radiology diagnoses, in the ED facility setting?

Hi
You may pick up the dx from the radiology report since the radiologist is a medical doctor. However you can pick up the symptoms from the attending physician medical notations of rationale for ordering the xrays too.
