Wiki Cpc-a who needs some experience

Hello. I am in the Rochester, NY area and have my cpc-a and I am looking for some experience. Everyone wants experience, how do I get it? I went back to school for my CPc-a after working as a speech therapist for 16 years. I worked in a medical record dept at a local hospital through college, and my mother is a medical record coder, so I have some observable knowledge, but not professional experience. Can anyone give any insight?

I am in the same situation as you. I am going to try and get to the AAPC's Rochester Chapter's meeting on Thurs. 2/11.. the speakers that are listed will be talking about "Getting to know the job Market" . If you go to the AAPC web site and look under networking, you can find the local chapter (if you are not already a member of one) and check out their meetings. they will give you a time, place and directions and fee to the meetings that are listed. Good luck and maybe we will meet up.
