Hi all- Apologies if this is posted elsewhere. I did search around and didn't find exactly what I'm looking for. Some qualifiers before I ask my question. 1) This is for outpatient billing only. 2) I know that 5010 allows for 12 diagnoses to appear on a professional claim and there are at most 4 pointers you can attach to a given CPT code. That said, how many diagnosis codes does your EMR allow you to connect to a given CPT code within the documentation?
Currently, our EMR vendor has 4 boxes to enter diagnosis codes per CPT code on the service activity log screen. Is that normal? What is your experience with your EMR? Does your system allow for additional diagnoses to be attached to a CPT code? Fully understanding that codes over 4 are not reported to the funder directly. Let me know! Thanks all-
