Hello to those Gastro Coder/billers...
I have been coding Gastroenterology claims for EGD's/Colonoscopy's and also Impedance Monitoring, Esophageal Monitoring, Esophageal Function Tests, Antrodudenal Gastric Manometry, Duodenal Manometry, and Colonic Manometry.

It seems the coder/biller prior to myself was posting the procedure (say 91022 Gastric Manometry at the same time the EGD was done). My reference from training's and other biller/coders is that the posting for the procedure (91022 Gastric Manometry) is not billed/posted until the interpretation of the report is given by the physician. So you could have the EGD done on 5/16/2017 (43239) and the Gastric Manometry done on 5/30/2017 (91022,26).

Previous coder/biller would bill: 43239 and 91022,26 on the same day 5/16/2017

I bill 43239 on 5/16/2017 and when I see copy of finished interpretation of the report in the record with Dr.'s signed dated signature ( 5/30/2017) I bill the 91020,26.

Please let me know if you have a different take on when service should be billed. Thanks for your assistance in this matter
