Hi!

We have started doing pudendal nerve branch blocks prior to labial/vaginal sclerotherapy for patient comfort. I could really use your help in developing coding and billing codes for coverage for this.

I think the procedure code may be: pudendal nerve plexus block #64430. Would this be correct? I am wondering if there is a diagnosis code for procedure analgesia or if I should use pelvic pain even though I don’t feel it is completely accurate and this is not diagnostic or therapeutic for any type of acute of chronic pain.

Hi there, I highly recommend starting with your payer policies if you plan to bill for this service. It may not be covered at all. For example, Medicare does not consider services performed solely for patient comfort or provider convenience to be medically necessary.
