Z99.11 - Dependence on Respirator [Ventilator] Status - For CPAP??

We have a few providers who are wanting to utilize the diagnosis code "Z99.11" for patients who consistently utilize a CPAP machine to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea. They feel that the CPAP qualifies as a respiratory device -- the patient is prescribed daily use, and there is medical necessity to treat sleep apnea -- all supports this code. We are concerned that the definition of "Dependence" is not met, if the patient is not utilizing this device 24/7 for respiration. Does anyone have any guidance or references on this?
