Save time with Codify by AAPC's new CMS-1500 Scrubber upgrades

CMS-1500 scrubber enhancements are claim-changers

Claim scrubbers can catch errors in claims before they are submitted to insurance, but entering the data can be time-consuming.

AAPC is excited to announce two new user-requested features added to the Real-Time Scrubber for CMS-1500 in Codify by AAPC that expedite the process of scrubbing claims.

Save and load claims for faster workflows

The first new feature in Codify’s Real-Time Scrubber for CMS-1500 (located under Coding Tools > Claims Edits) allows you to save claims you’ve entered.

This will save you a lot of keystrokes if you need to reload that data into the scrubber. Here’s how it works.

How to save your claim

Step 1:

After you enter the claim data in the Real-Time Scrubber for CMS-1500, click Save Claim at the bottom of the window to open the popup box (Figure 1). A Claim ID is automatically created but you can append a custom two-character ID before clicking Save.

How to reload your saved claim

Step 2:

When you want to access the same claim data again, simply click Load Saved Claim at the top right of the scrubber to open the Saved Claims popup box (Figure 2). Here, you can search claims using the Claim ID and filter claims by date. Once you find the claim you want, click the claim ID to load the claim in the scrubber.

Tip: You can also use the Action buttons in the Saved Claims popup box to edit, clone, or delete claims.

Access AAPC’s modifier crosswalk directly in the scrubber

The second new click-saving feature in Codify is easier access to AAPC’s modifier crosswalk while using the Scrubber for CMS-1500.

How to use the modifier crosswalk

Step 1:

With the Scrubber for CMS-1500 open, click the green button at the end of the Modifier row (Figure 3).

Step 2:

In the resulting CPT/HCPCS to Modifier Crosswalk window (Figure 4), you can search for modifiers to add to the claim. Once you find the appropriate modifier, click the Add To Claim button to add that modifier to the open claim in the scrubber.
