Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Coder (CPRC)

The Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Coder (CPRC) demonstrates sufficient experience and expertise in plastic and reconstructive surgery coding. A team of leading plastic and reconstructive surgery coding professionals developed the CPRC credential.

The CPRC is proficient in the following competencies:

  • Ability to read and abstract physician office notes and procedure notes to apply correct ICD-10-CM, CPT®, HCPCS Level II and modifier coding assignments
  • Evaluation and management (both the 1995 and 1997 Documentation Guidelines)
  • Rules and regulations of Medicare billing including (but not limited to) incident to, teaching situations, shared visits, consultations and global surgery
  • Coding of surgical procedures performed by plastic and reconstructive specialists such as scar revisions, facial repairs, cosmetic surgeries, etc.
  • Medical terminology
  • Anatomy and physiology
NOTE: Due to significant recurring costs, as of May 8th, new exam registrants will no longer be able to test for this credential.
