I am trying to determine if my large Physician Group can have a drive through COVID testing site. Can the group have patients go to the corporate office parking lot for testing? if so how would the group bill for this? Does the corporate office site need to be enrolled?

We are testing the Rapid lab tests through Drive-thru and has been a success but at our facility. Nurses take vitals and ask necessary questions and Providers performing the actual test and we are billing 99212 with 87426,QW and getting payment from ins. We are also going to nursing homes off facility site and billing the just the lab test 87426 with modifier QW. When we go offsite we still bill under our facility group and receiving payment. The only insurances that are not paying at the moment is Traditional Medicare and all Medicaid Programs.

Do you mind sharing the reimbursement for the 87426. I am unable to locate on any payer site including Medicare and Private Ins.

If the physician os onyl collecting the specimen, should he use 87426? I have aphysician he is been offering to go a places as urgent care, he should use this code or 99211+
collection specimen, and which place of service he should use, because j=his NPI is not linked to the Urgenr Care?

87426 is for the actual test, not the collection. The AMA guidelines for COVID19 swabbing are to use 99211 (already evaluated telehealth, telephone or online checkin) or 99201-99215 for an in person E/M and the collection is included. 99000 may also be billed if your carriers permit it.
I think his performing the services at another location is more tricky. Are these temporary locations set up by a hospital? Are these urgent care centers? The way your question is worded makes it unclear to me. Depending on the situation, he may need to credential with insurances at additional locations. Here are some CMS resources regarding this.
Hope that helps!

Hi, how are you billing now? I am in same position in Oregon. Large group wants to do a drive up testing (collection only) CPT 99211 but we are unclear of POS. We were looking at 15 (mobile unit) or 99 (other unspecified). What did you end up billing? The lot we would be using not our corporate lot but a leased lot centrally located for patients. Appreciate any advice.
