Career opportunities for medical coders trained in skilled nursing facility (SNF) coding are on the rise, and tremendous growth is projected to continue through 2030 as the last of the baby boomers enter their seventh decade of life.

This online Skilled Nursing Facility Coding Course will introduce you to the Patient Driven Payment Model (PDPM) — the case-mix classification system used in long-term residential care settings that classifies patients into case-mix components and case-mix groups, and then uses the case-mix index (CMI) to calculate the PDPM per diem rate for Medicare reimbursement. You’ll also learn ICD-10-CM and E/M coding for SNF encounters, as well as relevant CPT® services and modifier usage. Students will gain a solid understanding of SNF billing concepts, consolidated billing, and Medicare Part A.
