Certified Emergency Department Coder (CEDC®) Preparation Training Course

AAPC's online Emergency Department Coding Course will ready you for the CEDC certification exam with a review of ED coding — including an E/M chapter covering 2023 evaluation and management guidelines for new and established office and outpatient services, as well as 1995 and 1997 CMS documentation guidelines.

Training Objectives

  • Review documentation issues for common ED diagnosis codes and conditions
  • Review CPT® and CMS E/M guidelines pertaining to the ED
  • Understand common procedures performed in the ED
  • Review the most missed concepts on the CEDC certification exam
  • Gear up with a practice test mirroring the format and structure of the CEDC exam

Training Content

  • Interactive audio/video lectures and online exercises
  • Practice test with 10 cases and 35 multiple choice questions

Additional Information

  • At least two years of ED coding experience is prerequisite. While no previous coding credential is needed to attain the CEDC credential, this course is not meant for individuals with little, limited, or no coding experience.
  • This course takes four hours on average to complete, not including additional study time
  • Approved for 4 CEUs upon successful completion towards CPC®, CPB™, CPMA®, CPPM®, and specialty credentials except CIRCC® (one-time use only)

Passing & Certification

  • Must have current AAPC membership
  • An overall score of 70% or higher is required to pass the certification exam.
