Hello, everyone. My name is Shawna Phillips, and welcome to my Coder Crib.
Come on in, and let me show you my remote workstation. I've been working remote since twenty twenty, part-time at first, two days on-site, three days remote.
But then when COVID hit, I suspect just about everybody started working remote, and it just continued on, to current. I've been a coder since April two thousand three, and, I love it. I wanted a change because I was working in retail. I wanted something more stable, and I just decided coding was a thing.
It was a challenge. It still can be a challenge, but I wouldn't change it for the world. I love it. So come on. Let me give you a tour. I have, I have a shredder because I tend to print off reports because I like, you know, write on paper and scribbling on stuff. So I got that just so I can be compliant.
Here's my codebooks. I do have a put on them because they have a tendency to unravel. So this helps me so that it can stay put. HP, excuse me, printer, OfficeJet. I also have my footstool, and then, I also have a cushion for my cushion. Highly recommend. I believe I got this from on Amazon. Inexpensive. Highly recommended.
Also, good lumbar support. If you have any back problems, this will work. As well as a sit to stand desk. When you get tired of sitting, you can always lift this up. I think this was also from Amazon, if I'm not mistaken. Real C code, I believe the name of it is. I just moved my computer board because I like, my keyboard, excuse me, up here since it's wireless and have at it.
I'll also let me point out that I have a mat that I sit down so it'll take some of the pressure off standing on the bare floor. Helps me tremendously, but it works for me.
Let me just add kind of fun facts. I like to I like to read. So here's a collection of my books. And there's some in the back too, but nonetheless that's what I do so most of the time in my spare time as well as craft. Here are some reference materials anywhere from older coding books to, path pathophysiology books, medical dictionary, infusion, radiology, notes, general surgery, cardio, coding alerts. Really beneficial.
Also, let me boast a little bit. My billing and coding specialist certificate, several years later, I got my physician coding. Course, that's my high school diploma, my professional coder certificate, then my biller, then, outpatient coder. Currently, I am working, on my CDEO (Certified Documentation Expert Outpatient), which is sitting on my desk as well.
And, also, when I start the day out, I started out in prayer to keep me grounded, and it works for me. It uplifts me and and makes my day more positive. Also, when I'm not coding, I craft. So here is my little station, in the corner. Go Chiefs, my little bucket hat that I made. Also, I've been trying to get in the habit of taking my two fifteen-minute breaks out today. And when I do, I walk on the treadmill ten to fifteen minutes to get me rejuvenated, reset, mind, body, soul.
Also, my TV, most of the time, I have it on, but low just to hear noise. It tends to get kinda quiet throughout the day, and it just works for me. And I hope that you enjoy this segment, and stay positive, stay blessed, and God bless. Thank you.
