SUMMARY

In this interactive workshop, participants will learn the definitions of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA). We will examine the impacts of FWA through the lens of value-based care. While it has always been challenging to stay in front of fraud schemes, the complexity of value-based care makes it even harder to identify when fraud, waste, and abuse are happening. This behavior impacts healthcare costs for everyone involved, from the payer to the provider to the patient.

Join us to discuss the increase in FWA in the value-based setting. Participants will discuss the laws that impact our work in value-based care as well as the oversight agencies who are responsible for ensuring FWA is identified and prosecuted. We will also take a look at some of the headline making cases of the past few years and will share tips and best practices for identifying and avoiding FWA at your organization.

Key Takeaways:

  • Identify the differences between fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Recognize the complexity of identifying and preventing FWA in value-based care.
  • Compare recent headline cases.
  • Identify the laws that protect healthcare from FWA.
  • Recognize the various enforcement agencies in FWA.
