Orthopedic Trauma Coding: Precision in Fracture Documentation & Reporting Webinar

Learn more about this event

Coding fractures in the trauma setting can represent a challenge in choosing which fracture to list first in ICD 10 CM assignment, determining the correct modifiers to apply to repairs and deciding when an E/M service is codable. This webinar will visit basic to advanced diagnosis assignment for fractures, especially when there are multiple fractures and injuries.

Global fracture care can represent challenges when patients are received after initial stabilization elsewhere and/or when they are discharged to a rural area for follow up with an outside provider. Appropriate modifier assignment will be covered to determine compliant reimbursement. There are many approaches to fracture repair, and we will identify the documentation necessary to drive correct code assignment. Complications related to multiple trauma and fractures, and their appropriate code assignment will be addressed.

Learning Objectives/Agenda

• Identify correct ICD 10 CM code assignment and sequencing for fractures
• Identify documentation required to drive correct procedure code assignment
• Identify compliant use of modifiers for fracture care delivered by more than one provider
• Establish compliant assignment of Evaluation and Management services with fracture care
• Establish best practices for identifying and assigning the assignment of ICD 10 CM and CPT® codes for complication care
