How do I set up my exam space at home?
To successfully begin your exam, you will need to:
Choose a private, distraction-free room.
This exam requires a closed room with window coverings, free from distraction or interruption. Testing in an open-concept room isn't allowed.
Use a table/desk with a chair.
You must take the exam at a table or desk, sitting in a chair. You won't be able to take the test on a couch, bed, or the floor. Be prepared to show a 360-degree view of your room and desk using your webcam.
Ensure you have a stable internet connection.
Your computer must have an upload and download speed of at least 5.0 Mbps (10 Mbps is preferred). Avoid using a VPN while taking the exam, as this may cause issues connecting to the exam system.
Before exam day, check your RAM/CPU and internet speed here to ensure your computer passes the minimum system requirements.
Have working speakers for communication.
You’ll need functional speakers to interact with proctors. Bluetooth speakers and headphones are not allowed, so make sure you have the right setup in place.
Purchase an external webcam.
Since the exam is supervised remotely, your external webcam must be positioned to clearly show your face, hands, keyboard, and a small surrounding area (about 10 inches). A webcam with 1080p resolution and a 6 foot cord is preferred.
You’ll also complete a 360-degree scan of your workspace before the exam starts and after any breaks. Practicing this ahead of time will help you feel prepared.
Download the Guardian Browser.
You will need to have the Guardian browser downloaded and ready to use in order to take your exam.
