Evaluation and Management (E/M) guidelines for new and established office and outpatient services have gone through substantial revisions. Understanding the new guidelines for coding and documentation is vital and AAPC is committed to help you prepare. In additional to the training, workshops and resources below, here are a few key facts:
- The changes are effective January 1, 2021.
- The guideline revisions only affect the new and established office and outpatient codes.
- History and examination will no longer be a requirement for coding.
- E/M codes will be determined based on time or medical decision making.
- Code 99201 will be eliminated.

CEMC Practice Exam
This 50-question practice exam is taken online and offers the BEST means to gauge your readiness for the actual exam. It emulates the format, content, and difficulty level of the actual certification exam. Note: Does not include 2021 guidelines.
The Certified Evaluation and Management Coder exam is an open-book, 150 multiple-choice, proctored exam. You’ll have 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete this exam at a testing facility. Note: Does not include 2021 guidelines.
