SUMMARY

The 2026 CPT® updates introduce one of the largest sets of changes in recent years to the codes and guidelines governing vascular and coronary interventions. This four-hour workshop will provide an in-depth review of the 2026 CPT® updates affecting lower extremity endovascular revascularization, thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR), and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The workshop will cover the new and revised CPT® codes as well as updated reporting rules that impact code selection along with required documentation. Hands-on coding exercises using actual operative reports are incorporated throughout the session to reinforce correct application of the 2026 CPT® codes and associated guidelines across these procedure categories.

Learning Objectives/Agenda:

At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and apply the 2026 CPT® coding changes for lower extremity endovascular revascularization, understanding how to identify straightforward vs. complex lesions for angioplasty, stent placement, atherectomy in the lower extremities.
  • Interpret the 2026 CPT® requirements for thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) to select the appropriate codes based on procedural details and associated services.
  • Accurately report percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) services under the 2026 CPT® updates by applying the revised coronary segment definitions and selecting appropriate codes for angioplasty, stent placement, atherectomy, and combination therapy.
  • Determine when diagnostic angiography is separately reportable when performed in conjunction with therapeutic lower extremity, aortic, or coronary interventions.
  • Evaluate operative documentation to confirm that required elements are present to support code assignment for the new and revised 2026 CPT® codes.
