AAPC 100,000 Member - Carla Peacock
AAPC registers its 100,000th member, Mrs. Carla Peacock, from Wylie, Texas. Peacock has 11 years experience in health care and works for Forte in Dallas, Texas where she creates the EOBs for Workers Compensation claims. She was curious about how medical coding played into the overall bills and decided, with the encouragement of her employer, to learn medical coding through Penn Foster, an independent career school. According to Peacock, "Understanding medical coding helps make sense of what I do every day."
To honor this record-breaking membership, AAPC is awarding Mrs. Peacock with an all expense paid trip to its 2011 National Conference being held April 3-6 in Long Beach, Calif., where she will receive a 100,000th member certificate honoring the occasion. She will also receive a free Certified Professional Coder (CPC®) exam along with a 2011 AAPC webinar subscription to help obtain CEUs.
Peacock is a native Texan and proudly married with a 22-year-old daughter. She has an associate degree in computer systems from Collin County Community College.
