Can I run for more than 2 terms in my officer role?
Officers should not serve more than two consecutive years in same office and, after serving as a chapter officer (in different capacities) for four consecutive years, an officer may not be elected to an office for at least one year.
This guideline helps ensure fresh ideas, new leadership opportunities for members, and prevents burnout for our volunteers. However, we also don’t want to close a chapter if there are not nominations for the 3 required officer positions.
If there is at least one other nomination willing to run for your role, please do not run again (if you have been in the role for 2 or more terms, or have been an officer for 4 consecutive years.)
there is at least one other nomination or member willing to run for that position.
If, after actively seeking interest, no other member is willing to serve, the chapter must contact their CAB representative to request approval to serve a third term.
We strongly encourage officers to start succession planning early. Invite members to volunteer, talk with those who attend regularly, and personally encourage individuals to consider a leadership role.
