About The Author
Gina Piccirilli, CPC, CPMA
Gina Piccirilli is a physician auditor/educator for Lee Health. She is a certified coder, biller, auditor and trainer with over 20 years of experience, over 10 or those years in management roles, working with healthcare organizations.
Prior to joining Lee Health, Gina was a manager of HIM for a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) located in the Hudson Valley. Her responsibilities for HIM included work with Ellenville Regional Hospital ED, Inpatient, Rehab Services, and Specialty Clinic. She also recently launched Revenue Cycle Solutions, a consulting company focused on providing clients with services related to medical billing and auditing.
She is an expert in creating processes and procedures within the revenue cycle to allow claims to process cleanly the first time. This simple process alone yields proper payment that is fast and requires zero follow-up, allowing staff to be utilized in other areas.
Gina provides clients with ongoing education and training onsite or virtually after audit to ensure understanding. Improper denials management can cost tens of thousands in takebacks and fines along with criminal charges. Gina’s expertise has allowed healthcare systems to get back to basics and focus on patient care without the concern of revenue.
